Biodiesel Power
by Lyle Estill

Biodiesel Power by Lyle Estill is an
entertaining glimpse into the trials and tribulations of scaling up
from a "blender batch" to commercial biodiesel processing. Estill is
an award-winning sculptor and serial entrepeneur that is currently
"VP of Stuff" at Piedmont Biofuels, a successful biodiesel coop in
North Carolina.
Estill gives an account of his entry into biodiesel from early
experimentations to ramping up production into the Piedmont Biofuels
Coop and Piedmont Biofuels Industrial operation. He skillfully
organizes and glues together many of his Energy Blogs from over the
years.
Estill covers issues from state and federal regulations to his
attempts at lobbying the North Carolina state legislature to
institute changes such as a biodiesel tax holiday to help promote
production of the renewable fuel made from vegetable oils and animal
fats.
Estill describes carefully how making biodiesel is more a way of
life than an attempt to make your own cheap fuel. He chronicals
Piedmont Biofuels' sustainable operation that includes an organic
farm for crops, livestock and biodiesel feedstock.
Biodiesel Power is an easy and fun read. Estill keeps you
entertained while educating you on the issues with ramping up
production of biodiesel from homebrewing to commercial refining and
sale.
Estill does not try to teach the reader how to make biodiesel. He
has left that to the
Collaborative Biodiesel Tutorial, Girl Mark's
Biodiesel Homebrew Guide and Joshua Tickell's From the Fryer to the Fuel Tank.
